Founding Fintech Engineer / OEM Lending

Location: San Francisco preferred; open to remote

Compensation: $175,000–$225,000 base + meaningful equity (0.25%–1%) + top-tier benefits

A fast-growing startup building financial infrastructure to support the real economy is hiring a Founding Engineer to lead core 0→1 product builds at the intersection of software, credit, and complex money movement.

This is a true early-stage role with significant ownership. You will build and ship the lending systems that power industrial and small-business growth, including underwriting workflows, compliance-heavy financial operations, and audit-ready processes.

What you will do

  • Own full product cycles end-to-end, from customer discovery to production deployment

  • Design and build lending infrastructure, including:

    • Underwriting pipelines and decisioning workflows

    • KYB/KYC and identity/compliance flows

    • Fraud detection and operational controls

    • Repayments, servicing, and document workflows

    • Audit-ready compliance and reporting systems

  • Integrate and operate modern fintech partners and vendors (identity, onboarding, payments, banking, data)

  • Help shape engineering standards and a high-craft product culture

  • Occasional travel to meet customers and partners in the field

What we are looking for

  • Full-time experience building complex financial systems (lending, payments, banking, fintech)

  • Track record shipping production-grade systems with real constraints (regulatory, compliance, fraud, operational risk)

  • Experience with one or more of: KYB/KYC, underwriting workflows, loan servicing, money movement

  • Comfortable owning backend architecture and product surface area

  • Strong product instincts and UI/UX taste

  • Familiarity with some of the following is a plus: Node.js, React, TypeScript, Postgres, AWS, Terraform, serverless architectures

  • Interest in using modern AI tools day-to-day is a plus
