VP of Engineering / Premium Banking

Location: Remote (US)

Compensation: $290k-$330k + equity + benefits

We’re looking for a VP of Engineering to join a profitable, growth-stage technology company building a premium consumer product with regulated, high-trust workflows and complex partner integrations. The company is entering a new phase of scale, investing in core platform capabilities and the engineering organization needed to support sustained growth.

As VP of Engineering, you will lead the engineering org, set technical direction, and strengthen delivery and operational excellence across the stack. You will work closely with the CEO and senior leadership to align engineering strategy to business goals, while building a culture of craftsmanship, ownership, and high standards.

Interview process

The process includes an onsite loop in a major U.S. city. Travel expenses are covered.

What you will do

  • Lead and mentor a multi-discipline team (backend, frontend, mobile, and infrastructure), with clear expectations around quality and execution.

  • Own org design and hiring plans as the team scales, including leveling, performance management, and career development.

  • Oversee planning, sprint execution, and release cadence to deliver reliable product improvements at a sustainable pace.

  • Partner with executive leadership on long-term technical vision and architecture across core services, data flows, and external integrations.

  • Raise the bar on engineering fundamentals: CI/CD, code review, automated testing, observability, incident response, and security.

  • Drive availability and performance across mission-critical systems with a focus on reliability, compliance, and customer trust.

  • Act as a culture carrier, reinforcing collaboration, accountability, and pragmatic decision-making.

What we are looking for

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years in engineering leadership (manager-of-managers or senior technical leadership).

  • Proven experience scaling teams and processes in a fast-growing product organization.

  • Strong grasp of distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and secure API design.

  • Hands-on familiarity with a modern web stack such as Python (Django or similar), PostgreSQL, and a major cloud provider (e.g., AWS).

  • Working knowledge of modern frontend ecosystems (e.g., TypeScript and React) and mobile delivery considerations.

  • Experience balancing speed with reliability in environments with elevated operational and security expectations.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Nice to have: experience in payments, card programs, or other transaction-heavy platforms.
